MICRO HYDRO POWER PLANT DUMMY LOAD CONTROLLER

Advisor:

Dr. Tahir Izhar

Abstract:

Due to the variation of the load on the consumer end, the speed of the generator varies which causes the frequency to change. It is a problem for the consumer as all the electrical appliances are designed for specific frequency allowing a variation of usually 1% above and below 50 Hz. A control unit is designed which will be connected between generator and the load. A constant load will be maintained at the generator using a dummy load controlled by Thyristors. Control Unit will check the line frequency and depending upon the value produce specific pulses of required firing angle. These pulses will control the gate of Thyristors to which our dummy load is connected.
